Of the 252 of Catholic schools located in Manhattan, the Bronx and Staten Island, 105 elementary and secondary schools have been designated as inner-city schools. To qualify, more than half of the student population enrolled must come from a home living at or below the federal poverty line. With the help of our schools, Inner- City Scholarship Fund (ICSF) is able to provide scholarships to students and enrichment funding for programs that allow students to remain competitive: • Number of elementary schools: 84 • Number of high schools: 21 • Demographic Area: Manhattan, the Bronx, Staten Island • Cost per student: $2,680 elementary, $6,138 high school • Waiting list and number of available seats at schools: 5,000 • Percentage of 9th graders who graduate in 4 years: 82% • Percentage of high school seniors who graduate: 98% • Graduates pursuing college or university studies: 96% ICSF schools represent one of the greatest educational values today. They have a proven track record of success with individual students, and as a whole. The results speak for themselves: higher levels of Catholic school students vs. public school students stay in school, graduate in four years and move on to higher education. This shows that our teachers and administrators are steadfast in their dedication to academic excellence, and are committed to serving the needs of their pupils.
